Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project Hits Milestone

The Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline project, a massive undertaking aimed at connecting Nigeria to Morocco with a 7,000 km gas pipeline, has reached a significant milestone. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its Moroccan counterpart, the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM), have announced that the project has entered the land acquisition and resettlement phase.

The $25 billion project, launched in 2016, aims to create a sustainable energy source for the region and beyond. Once completed, the pipeline will supply gas to 13 coastal countries and three landlocked countries in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). This development is poised to be a game-changer in the region's energy landscape, fostering economic growth and cooperation among member states.

The project's progress is a testament to the effectiveness of regional collaboration and the collective efforts of all parties involved. The Front End Engineering Design (FEED) Phase 2 study has been completed, and surveys are currently underway for Environmental and Social Impact Assessments. As the project moves forward, it is expected to have a significant impact on the region's energy sector, driving growth and development in the process.
