Thousands of Creatives Unite Against

In a powerful show of solidarity, over 11,500 creatives, including renowned actors Kevin Bacon and Kate McKinnon, have signed a statement warning against the unlicensed use of copyrighted materials to train AI models. The statement, published by Fairly Trained, a group advocating for fair training data use, condemns the practice as a "major, unjust threat" to the livelihoods of creators.

The move comes as AI companies are increasingly accused of exploiting creators by using their work without permission or compensation. Several organizations, including the Recording Industry Association of America, have sued AI firms for copyright infringement. Fairly Trained CEO Ed Newton-Rex argues that AI companies must recognize the value of creative works and fairly compensate creators.

The statement highlights the growing tension between the tech industry and the creative community, with many calling for greater accountability and transparency in AI development.
