Medal's AI Assistant Highlight Raises $10 Million in Funding Round

In a significant development, Highlight, a cross-platform AI assistant launched by Medal earlier this year, has spun off into a separate entity and raised $10 million in a funding round led by General Catalyst. The new entity, which has also received a $3 million investment from Medal, is poised to revolutionize the way users interact with AI technology.

Highlight's innovative approach allows users to attach context such as screens, voice notes, or documents to their queries, enabling more accurate and relevant responses from the AI assistant. The app can also transcribe calls and meetings, and perform tasks such as summarizing, rewriting, and explaining context.

The startup plans to open up its platform to users, enabling them to create custom actions and prompts, and even share useful automations with the community. For developers, Highlight will provide an agentic framework to build apps on top of its technology.

"We want to create virtual employees that can take care of tasks for you, freeing up your time," said Pim de Witte, co-founder of Medal and Highlight.

The funding round, which also saw participation from Valor, SV Angel, and Conviction Embed, is a significant vote of confidence in Highlight's vision to make AI more accessible and user-friendly.
