Humane Slashes Price of Ai Pin by $200 Amidst Struggling Sales

In a bid to revitalize sales, Humane, a Bay Area startup founded by two former Apple executives, has announced a significant price cut of $200 to its flagship product, the Ai Pin. The device, which initially launched in April for $700, will now start at $499, inclusive of the first month of Humane Plan.

The move comes as the company struggles to gain traction with the Ai Pin, which received poor reviews from critics and saw returns outpacing sales by August, leaving around 7,000 to 8,000 devices in the hands of users. The company had reportedly begun exploring a sale as early as May, highlighting the severity of its sales woes.

The new pricing strategy, which includes a 90-day return window, aims to make the product more appealing to customers, with Humane touting it as a "completely risk-free" trial experience. However, the price cut may also be seen as a sign of desperation, sparking concerns about the startup's long-term viability.
